The Queen Liliuokalani Trust (QLT) is a private operating foundation founded in 1909. The mission of the trust is to serve orphan and destitute children with preference given to Native Hawaiian children. The trust serves approximately 10,000 children annually through direct services and reaches thousands more through collaboration with community partners.
In 2016 QLT expanded their existing 11th floor corporate offices at 1100 Alakea Street by developing new offices on the 8th floor. The additional 4,800 sf of office space will accommodate evaluation, planning, research, and administrative staff as well as provide flexible work space for staff visiting from the Neighbor Islands.
Program Requirements QLT requested a playful, open, and highly flexible design that would encourage collaboration and accommodate a wide range of spaces for team members to work in groups or individually. The program requirements included:
• 24 workstations with the flexibility to add future stations • 1 large conference room • 4 small meeting rooms • Kitchenette and coffee bar • Copier/printer room • Waiting area near elevators • Cell phone booth • Counter seating areas • Informal lounge areas
