The cantilevered form of this residence responds to the sensitivity of the site, which consists entirely of sand dunes, beach heather, and large expanses of pine-covered wetlands. The building shifts and steps to capture views and to preserve the natural dunescape. Sod roofs and basement cistern eliminate runoff onto the site. Primary spaces are oriented to minimize solar gain and to capitalize on cross-ventilation.
